THE PEACE OF NOWNESS: Managing anxiety through mindfulness meditation

Sat, June 14th, 2014

This day-long experiential workshop for mental health professionals will provide instruction and guidance in a somatically-based mindfulness approach to working with clients who have anxiety issues.  In an atmosphere of kindness to oneself and curiosity about one’s experience, participants will be helped to direct their awareness towards subtle body-mind patterns that signal the arising of anxiety.  They will also be taught a method for exploring these patterns to discover the core beliefs and fears underlying the anxiety.  There will be instruction in identifying and working with personal somatic defenses against fully recognizing and experiencing anxiety.  The day will conclude with extensive presentation and practice of mindfulness-based alternatives both to being stuck in anxiety and to being stuck in fighting against it.
